Founded by David McClements in 1979, Somac Threads is a family-owned business built on traditional values, quality products and excellent customer service.

Based in the UK, Somac manufactures a range of high-quality industrial threads, while also distributing leading thread brands for use across a wide variety of industries throughout the UK, Ireland and beyond.

We are proud to be the UK and Ireland distributor for A&E Gütermann, one of the world’s leading thread manufacturers. We also distribute Kingstar® and Royal® embroidery threads, as well as Vilene® backing products.

We are also the official UK distributor for Springs & Sprays from Palty Netherlands, supplying quality products to customers across the UK.

Our commitment to quality and industry standards is reflected in our membership of the National Bed Federation (NBF) and our ISO 2015 certification.
